Agnes D. Schulz, 86, of Merrill died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services after a long and courageous battle when Alzheimer’s. Agnes was born Sept. 25, 1919, in the town of Scott, daughter of the late Julius and Ida (Woller) Plautz. Agnes married Herbert A. Schulz on June 17, 1939. He survives.

Agnes farmed with her husband in the Town of Pine River. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid for many years. Agnes enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, taking care of her pets and doing needle crafts. She will be sadly missed by her family.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert Schulz of Seward, Neb.; two daughters, Marlene (Dean) Yates of Seward and Dianne (Kevin) Stresman of Vassar, Mich.; four sons, Herb (Jane) Schulz Jr. of Weston, David (Jeanette) Schulz of Merrill, Gary (Gail) Schulz of Connor, Mont., and Don (Loretta) Schulz of Rio Rancho, N. M; 12 grandchildren, Susie, Brian, Jim, Mark, Dawn, Courtney, Josh, Andrew, John, Patrick, Katie, and Kassie; three step-grandchildren, Pam, Mike and Rodney, nine great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchildren. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill and Roland; her brother-in-law; sister-in-law; and special friend, Florence Uttech.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2006, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Pine River. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Town of Pine River. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and again Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
