Janesville (13,894), the county seat of Rock County, is situated on the Rock
river. The river. furnishes water power which is used for manufacturing. In the city are large tobacco warehouses and a beet sugar factory, which are supported by the raw material produced in the surrounding country. There are also flour mills and factories for making paper, boots and shoes, furniture, agricultural implements and fountain pens.
