Stephen Beverly

Stephen Beverly, born in 1781 in Virginia, apparently came to Kentucky about 1797. A family tradition says he came with a hunting party. He and his wife, Lucy, born in 1787 in Virginia, were residents of Grant County, Kentucky from its formation, having moved from Harrison County, Kentucky to a 150-acre tract on Eagle Creek about 1818. There they led quiet lives as farmers and raised a large family. Lucy, who outlived her husband by eight years, died in 1860. Of their twelve children eleven live to adulthood, some remaining in Grant County and others moving to neighboring counties. The birth dates are approximate, figured from the U. S. census records.
