David Burns

David Burns died in Grant County, Kentucky in either 1837 or 1838. He married Margaret (Franks) Webster March 28, 1816 in Fayette County, Kentucky. She was born about 1785, daughter of John Martin Franks and Elizabeth Lail, and the first wife of Henry Webster. Henry died somewhere in the State of Ohio on his return from the War of 1812. David and Margaret were the parents of the following children:

1. James Burns was born about 1818. He married Malinda Gravit in Grant County March 15, 1838. David Burns gave his consent for his son to marry on March 10, 1838.

2. Thomas Burns was born between 1820-1823 in Kentucky and died before 1864. He married Elizabeth Clifton. She was born about 1829 in Kentucky.

3. Henry Burns was born about 1824 in Kentucky. He married Elizabeth Wilson in Grant County on April 22, 1841. The consent of Margaret Burns, mother of the groom, was proven by the oath of T. Wilson. The bondsman was Thomas Wilson and the consent of the parents of the lady was personally given.

4. Cornelius Burns was born in 1827 in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky. He married Melissa Wilson Mach 12, 1856 in Grant County, Kentucky. She was born in Grant County in 1840 and died May 19, 1894 in LaBelle, Lewis County, Missouri. Cornelius and Melissa are buried in the LaBelle Cemetery in Lewis County, Missouri.

5. George Burns was born July 1830 in Grant County, Kentucky. He married Nancy (Hicks) Skirvin, widow of Daniel Skirvin, in Grant County on December 10, 1860. He married his second wife, Caroline Jacobs in Grant County at the residence of Wm. Jacobs on August 6, 1873. Caroline died in Grant County, May 10, 1913, at age 84 years, 2 months, and 20 days. She is buried in Clarks Creek Cemetery in Grant County.
