Thomas G. P. Cunningham

Thomas G. P. Cunningham, son of John and Elizabeth (Padgett) Cunningham, was born December 7, 1804. He first appeared on the Grant County tax list in 1826, probably turning 21 about this time. In 1830, Thomas, along with George Cowgill, was named Trustee of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in a deed from John Franks giving a two-acre tract as the site for the church. On February 3, 1825, Thomas G. P. Cunningham married Nancy Franks, daughter of John Martin Franks and Elizabeth Lail, in Grant County, Kentucky. Nancy was born about 1803 and died about 1829. After her death, Thomas G. P. Cunningham married Comfort Nicholas in Grant County, Kentucky on December 30, 1830. She was born in 1805 and died in 1862, and is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Grant County, Kentucky. He married his third wife, Lucy C. Reed, in Grant County, July 23, 1863. Thomas G. P. Cunningham died November 7, 1890 in Odessa, Lafayette County, Missouri, and is buried in Odessa Cemetery in Lafayette County.

Children of Thomas G. P. Cunningham and Nancy Franks:
1. William Wallace Cunningham was born October 15, 1825 in Grant County, Kentucky. He died May 15, 1904 in Mayview, Lafayette County, Missouri, and is buried in the Odessa Cemetery in Lafayette County, Missouri. He married Martha Ann Webster November 20, 1851 in Grant County, Kentucky, daughter of Tilmon Webster and Mary Lloyd, and granddaughter of Achillis and Sarah (Webster) Webster. Martha Ann was born October 22, 1825 and died January 24, 1904 in Mayview, Lafayette County, Missouri. Records show William Wallace Cunningham and wife moved to Lafayette County, Missouri before 1860.

2. George Washington Cunningham was born January 21, 1827 in Grant County, Kentucky. He married Martha E. Gibson in Boone County, Kentucky September 7, 1848. He died March 18, 1899 in Monroe County, Indiana.

3. John Thomas Cunningham was born September 22, 1829. He married Letty Ann Webster, daughter of Tilmon Webster and Mary Lloyd, also a granddaughter of Achillis and Sarah (Webster) Webster. Records show that John Thomas Cunningham and wife were residents of Lafayette County, Missouri in 1860.

The children of Thomas G. P. Cunningham and Comfort Nichols:
1. Nancy Margaret Cunningham was born in Grant County, Kentucky in 1841. She married William T. Hambrick January 12, 1852 in Grant County. Their son, Thomas, was born in Grant County November 7, 1852. There are possibly other children.

2. Mary Elizabeth Cunningham was born in 1833 in Grant County, Kentucky and died in Grant County in 1837.

3. Simonn Cunningham was born in Grant County, Kentucky in 1836 and died July 9, 1840 in Grant County. He is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Grant County, Kentucky.

4. Solomon T. Cunningham was born in Grant County, Kentucky in 1838 and died June 5, 1840 in Grant County. He is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Grant County, Kentucky.

5. James Cunningham was born in Grant County, Kentucky about 1842.
