Abraham Jump

Abraham Jump appears on the Grant County tax lists from 1822-1835 and from 1841-1844. He is on the 1840 Morgan County, Illinois census and was recently discovered on the 1850 census for Clark County, Missouri although he doesn't appear in the Index to the 1850 Missouri census. He last appears on Putnam County, Missouri census for 1860; he was 62 years old and his wife was 60 years old at the time. Abraham Jump was the son of William Jump and appears on the 1838 Schuyler County, Illinois tax lists. Their children:

1. Perhaps Pendleton Jump born 1823 (age 28 in 1850) but his tombstone in the Old Vine Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Grant County, Kentucky says he was born January 7, 1818. If so, he can't be the son of Nancy Beach and there has been no earlier marriage found for Abraham Jump. Pendleton Jump married three times and died May 1, 1916.

2. Elizabeth Jump was 24 in 1850; 39 in 1860; and 48 in 1870. Abram Jump was the bondsman for her marriage to John Wilson March 30, 1843 in Grant County, Kentucky. Living 1850 next to Abraham Jump in Clark County, Missouri. Living 1870 Jeddo Tnp., Knox County, Missouri.

3. Sally/Sarah Jump born circa 1826 (age 24 in 1850; age 45 in 1870. Abram Jump was bondsman for her marriage to John Burns April 7, 1841 in Grant County, Kentucky. Living next to the Abraham Jump household in 1850 Clark County, Missouri; still residing in Clay Tnp., Clark County, Missouri, in 1870. No record for either in published Clark County cemetery records.

4. William Jump (age 21 in 1850) may have been the William Jump who was issued a marriage licence in 1852 Hancock County, Illinois to marry Louisa (na)  Wilson. Served with Company K, 119th Illinois Infantry from Hancock County. His widow and children are living 1870 and 1880 in Hancock County, Illinois so William may have died in the Civil War.

5. Robert Jump, age 19 in 1850; 30 in 1860; 44 in 1870 and 52 in 1880, married Mary Jump November 24, 1853 in Clark County, Missouri (her ancestry unknown). Living 1860 Scotland County, Missouri; 1870 and 1880 in Knox County, Missouri. Not in 1900 Missouri Soundex; two daughters.

6. James Jump, age 17, in 1850; 25 in 1860; 30 in 1870; and 47 in 1880, married first, Ann by 1860, living Eureka Tnp., Greenwood County, Kansas. Married Laura Loter November 24, 1867 in Schuyler County, Illinois and living there in 1870 census. Living 1880 Neosha Fall Tnp., Woodson County, Kansas. A descendent reported he died January 14, 1896 at Leroy, Coffee County, Kansas.

7. Charles Jump, age 13 in 1850; 23 in 1860; 45 in 1180; married Mary Elizabeth Points (she was Mrs. Handock) January 18, 1863, Putnam County, Missouri. Charles served in the Civil War with Company D., 1st Missouri Cavalry, state militia. Living 1870 in Schuyler County, Illinois; 1880 and 1990 Putnam County, Missouri. His widow remarried in 1910.

8. Clarissa A. Jump, age 12 in 1850, born Illinois (perhaps Schuyler County?). No further information.

9. Abraham Lincoln Jump born 1844 in Grant County, Kentucky. He served in the Civil War with Company D., 17th Missouri Cavalry. Married first, Elizabeth Clifton (she was Mrs. Logan at the time) January 27, 1869 Clark County, Missouri. Living 1870 Bear Creek Tnp., Hancock County, Illinois. Married second, October 38, 1880, Clark County, Missouri, to Nancy Keller (1867-1932). Living 1880 Rocky Run Tnp., Hancock County, Illinois. Abraham died August 4, 1899 Lima Tnp., Adams County, Illinois.

10. Joseph/Josiah Jump born 1849-50 in Clark County, Missouri; living 1860 with parents in Putnam County, Missouri. No further census records found but reportedly served in Civil War with the 51st Missouri Infantry and that he died December 31, 1927 at Coffeyville, Montgomery County, Kansas.
