Alfred Morgan

Alfred Morgan, second son and one of ten children of Samuel and Elizabeth (Moore?) Morgan, was born December 20, 1821 in Owen County, Kentucky. On September 7, 1843 in Grant County, Kentucky he married Alamanda/Almeda Beverly, who had been born in Grant County about 1824, the oldest of eleven children of John and Mary (Sipple) Beverly. After marriage, the Morgans lived their tragically short lives farming in Grant County near the Owen County, Kentucky line. Alfred, not yet 30 years old, died February 8, 1851, and was followed in death only five months later by Alamanda, leaving their four children who became wards of their grandfather, John Beverly. Alfred is buried in the Baptist Church Cemetery in Jonesville near his mother and two of his sisters, Mary Ann (Morgan) Perry and Elizabeth F. Morgan; but Alamanda's burial place is unknown. Their four children were:

1. Isabel was born circa 1844. Se seems to have lived before 1870, apparently single.

2. William Henry was born December 13, 1846 and died July 21, 1924 in Norwood, Ohio. He married , October 7, 1868 in Grant County, Kentucky, Sarah E. May. She was born November 17, 1846, probably in Garrard County, Kentucky, the only child of Caleb and Anna (Chrisman) May. She died January 19, 1899 in Folsom while visiting her daughter Anna Belle (Morgan), wife of George Arthur Pettit. William Henry moved his family to Cincinnati, Ohio around 1900.

3. Mary Elizabeth was born about 1848. She married Robert Carleton on August 2, 1886 in Grant County, Kentucky. They had one son, Henry Carleton.

4. Samuel G. or J. was born May 1850.
