Information Included:

Information on burials in Mt. Zion Cemetery was published in Grant County Cemeteries, Volume 1, recorded by Virgil Chandler Sr. in June 1985 and updated June 24, 1989, published by the Grant County Historical Society, was keyed into a data base. This is a recording of headstones located in the cemetery at that time.

In the fall of 2002, Beulah Wiley Franks and Brenda Bridewell Salter surveyed Mt. Zion Cemetery for burials after June 24, 1989. Several headstones were located for people buried prior to 1989 indicating these stones were apparently placed in the cemetery after June 1989. These burials, later burials, burial per obituaries, and burials per family members, enclosed in brackets, are indicated by an *.

If a person's name is not included in the Mt. Zion Cemetery Index in Grant County Cemeteries, Volume 1, and a death certificate shows a person was buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery, "burial information from DC, etc. " is enclosed in brackets [  ] with an * by the person's name. It is possible that early burials from death certificates may have been buried in the old cemetery behind the church. There is no way to determine from the death certificate if the interment was in the front or back cemetery. I have added some additional information from death certificates in my possession such as: names of parents, etc., and this information is also enclosed in brackets [ ].

Stone Remarks and On the Same Stone With (ossw) has been added when possible. If you have a question, please e-mail me.
