The Mt. Zion Baptist Church "Old" Cemetery is situated behind Mt. Zion Baptist Church, located about 5 miles northwest of Dry Ridge, Kentucky on the Sherman-Mt. Zion Road. It is a part of the tract deeded to the Trustees of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in 1829 by John and Elizabeth (Cowgill) Franks soon after the church was organized. It is a separate cemetery from the new cemetery in front of the church. Many stones in the old cemetery are missing and several stones are broken. In the fall of 2002, Beulah Wiley Franks and Brenda Bridewell Salter completed a survey and recording of burials and inscriptions in the "Old" Cemetery, as follows:
