William Points
William Points was born circa 1795 in Kentucky, perhaps Boone County, son of John Points who died in 1818 in Boone County. He married Mach 30, 1820 in Pendleton COunty, Kentucky, Sarah Jump, born about 1804 in Kentucky and died after 1874, daughter of William Jump and his wife Margaret (Wilson?) Jump. William Points was on the 1820 Grant County tax list with 100 acres on Eagle Creek. By 1830, however, this family had removed to Morgan County, Illinois, yet he appears to have returned to Grant County by the mid 1830. In 1840, he's back in Morgan County, Illinois and by 1850 he's in Appanoose County, Iowa. He may have lived briefly in Lee County, Iowa in 1838. William was deceased by 1856, in that he did not appear in the Iowa state census of that year. Known children:
1. John Points born February 1821 in Grant County, Kentucky, married Mary Jump June 8, 1841 in Grant County, Kentucky. Died July 27, 1905, buried Missouri Valley, Harrison County, Iowa.
2. Thomas points born 1823 in Grant County, Kentucky, married January 6, 1847 in Appanoose County Iowa to Elizabeth Hutchinson. He died February 15, 1868 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Pleasant Tnp, Appanoose County, Iowa.
3. Margaret Points was born October 4, 1825 (1821-death certificate) Grant County. She married David Burns September 7, 1842 in Grant County, Kentucky. She died July 5, 1909 and is buried in the Exira Cemetery, Audubon County, Iowa.
4. Abram Points was born 1828 in Grant County, Kentucky. He married Sarah Wilson November 8, 1847 in Appanoose County, Iowa; died April 14, 1897. He is buried in Fordice-Edmonds Cemetery, Howard Tnp., Wayne County, Iowa.
5. Arthur Points was born February 1830 in Morgan County, Illinois. He married Lucy Puryer December 11, 1850. His second marriage was to Arminda Vandyke on March 2, 1852, both in Appanoose County, Iowa. Arthur died August 21, 1903 and is buried in Unionville Cemetery in Putnam County, Missouri.
6. Delila Points was born July 1831 in Illinois. She married John F. Jump September 9, 1850 in Appanoose County, Iowa. She died July 30, 1901 and is buried in Summers Cemetery, Union Tnp., Putnam County, Missouri.
7. William Points was born November 27, 1832 in Grant County, Kentucky. He married Catherine Allen November 14, 1852 in Pottawatomie County, Iowa. Died August 28, 1920 and buried in White Clay, Sheridan County, Nebraska.
8. Andrew Points was born circa 1835 in Illinois. Served with Company C., 1st Colorado Volunteers and killed on March 28, 1862 Pigeon's Rance, Colorado. Unmarried.
9. Sarah Points was born 1836 in Illinois, married John M. Bay October 20, 1854, Putnam County, Missouri. Living 1900. Buried Crook Cemetery, Rockford Tnp., Pottawatomie County, Iowa.
10. Luvisa Points was born 1841 in Grant County, Kentucky. She married first, John Austin Jones, August 28, 1856, in Putnam County, Missouri; married second, Nimrod Marchbanks, March 21, 1868 in Appanoose County, Iowa; married third, John Laban Jones. Died october 27, 1911.
11. Mary Elizabeth Points was born June 1842 (obit says October 10, 1838) in Grant County, Kentucky. She married first, Mr. Hancock; second, Charles Jump, January 18, 1863 in Putnam County, Missouri; third, Charles Adams, in 1910. Died October 29, 1915, buried Unionville, Putnam County, Missouri.
12. David Points was born February 28, 1846 in Grant County, Kentucky. He married Sophia Allen, July 4, 1866, Pottawatomie County, Iowa. Died July 24, 1910, buried Allen Cemetery, Honey Creek, Pottawatomie County, Iowa.
13. Hiram Points was born 1848 in Appanoose County, Iowa. Married first, Sarah Farnham; second, Mary Pray, December 24, 1888 in Schuyler County, Illinois; third, Ettie Simpson, December 7, 1892 in Putnam County, Missouri, who died January 1904 at Putnam County, Missouri poor farm.
