Daniel
Seward
Daniel Seward was born November 5, 1760 in Pennsylvania. He was drafted in 1779 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania to serve in the American Revolution. He married Elizabeth Stewart in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in 1786. Daniel Seward first appeared on the Pendleton County, Kentucky tax list in 1800, recorded by the tax assessor as Daniel Swords. His taxable property included 100 acres in the South Licking watershed. For several years thereafter he was variously listed under th name of Soards, Seward, Sords, and Sewards. On October 6,1808, Mary, married Henry Lawless with her father's consent. Mary was born 1790, died after 1860. Their children included.

On July 26, 1810 Daniel Seward's daughter, Elizabeth, married Meridian Tungate with her father's consent.
On October 17, 1811, Daniel Seward's daughter, Effy, who was over 21 years of age, married Lewis Stewart, In 1816, 50 acres on Grassy Creek was now taxed in the name of Effy Stewart, indicating the prior death of Lewis Stewart. On January 28, 1821, Effy Stewart married Lewis Lawless.
In September 1814, Daniel Seward deeded a small tract of land on the dry ridge road to his son, Daniel Jr. On April 2, 1818, Daniel Seward Jr. married Lucinda Tungate.
By 1818, Daniel Seward Sr. was taxed on 84 acres on Grassy Creek and Daniel Seward Jr. first appeared on the Pendleton County tax rolls, listed with 69 acres "on Ridge waters." Both Daniel Sr. and Daniel Jr. were residing in the western part of Pendleton County that would become Grant County, Kentucky in 1820. In the U. S. Census of Grant County taken the sam year, Daniel Sr.'s household consisted of 2 males under age 10, one male over 45, two females under 10, one female 10 to 16, two females 16 to 26, and one female over 45. Daniel Jr.'s family included two males under 10, one male 18 to 26, and one female 16 to 26.
Daniel Seward Jr. died in Grant County, between October 1831 when his will was written and February 1832 when his will was probated. Hid wife, Lucinda, was named executor. Named children were Elliott, Perry T., Joana, Josephine,John, Oliver and Tully.
In January 1834, Daniel Seward Sr. produced a declaration in Grant County Court to obtain a military service pension under the Act of 1832. William Conrad and Jacob New, both of Grant County, testified he was about 73 years of age. The U. S. Pension Board approved this pension.
Daniel Seward Sr. died in Grant County May 16, 1846. His widow, Elizabeth (Stewart) Seward, born circa 1762, MD, was residing with her daughter-in-law, Lucinda (Tungate) Seward, in 1850.
Elliott Seward, under age 21, with the consent of his mother, Lucinda Seward, married December 4, 1836 in Grant County, Amanda McCarty. (Following Elliott's death, Amanda married Samuel Billeter in 1842 and Jediah Ashcraft in 1851.) Seward children: Benjamin F. Seward, born circa 1837.
Perry T. Seward, born circa 1820, with the consent of his mother, Lucinda Seward, married August 8, 1839 in Grant County, Patsy Ann McLin, under age 21, with the consent of her father, Joseph McLin. Children.

Tully Seward, under age 21, with the consent of his mother, Lucinda Seward, married March 9, 1848 in Grant County, Ruth Ann Childers. On April 12, 1853, Ruth Ann Seward released any right of dower or other claim as wife of Tully Seward to "the Old Sewards Place" on the Turnpike north of Williamstown conveyed by her husband to Thomas Gregg.
