'Dick' Hoesing NEWCASTLE, Neb. -- Richard A. "Dick" Hoesing, 82, of rural Newcastle died on his farm Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, Neb., with Pastor Terry Kenitz of Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, Neb., officiating. Burial will be in Ponca City Cemetery, Ponca. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today, with the family present, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Liewer of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Newcastle officiating. Richard was born on Feb. 6, 1923, in rural Menominee, Neb., the son of Edward and Mary (Messling) Hoesing. He joined the CCC's in 1938. He was enlisted in the U.S. Navy from March 10, 1943, through Dec. 16, 1945, and spent most of this time in Kingsville, Texas. He married Emma Pansegrau of Ponca on Aug. 29, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Okla. The couple farmed in the Ponca-Newcastle area and retired in 1988. The couple spent the last 17 winters in Aransas Pass, Texas. He was a member of American Legion Post 62 in Newcastle and served as a Newcastle School Board member for 15 years. Richard enjoyed fishing, reading, farming and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Emma of Newcastle; three sons, Leroy and his wife, Helen Hoesing of Newcastle, Howard and his wife, Anne Hoesing, and Warren and his wife, Glenda Hoesing, all of Jackson, Neb.; three daughters, Paula and her husband, Gary Bender of Sioux City, Patricia Raines of Prescott, Ariz., and Rhonda and her husband, Kenny Kuchta of Hartington, Neb.; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a brother, Henry and his wife, Alice Hoesing, and a sister, Josephine Eckhardt, all of Yankton, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
