News August 25, 1927 Veteran buried at Wynot Saturday Henry Johns, father of John Johns died at Grand Island. Military funeral services for Henry Johns, Wynot pioneer and soldier, who died at the Soldiers home at Grand Island August 15, were held Saturday, August 20 at the Wynot Community Church, at 3:00 pm with Rev. J Pruitt the pastor officiating. Henry Johns was born on September 15, 1843 in Ohio and married Eliza Jane Bailey in 1868. He is survived by four sons, John of Wynot, W.E. of Winnebago, Matt and Will of Alberta, Canada and two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Adkins and Mrs. Nettie Goodnuff, both living in Canada. Twenty-three grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren survive him. His wife died in 1912. Mr. Johns had been a a farmer most of his life, spending his last days with old friends at the old soldiers home. During the Civil War he enlisted in company I of the Second Regiment of the Nebraska Calvary. Interment was in the Wynot Cemetery.
