Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== CCN – Nov. 25, 1915 Lovable woman passes Away Mrs. Hildebrand Rolfes passed away at her home last Friday, death being due to paralysis, aged 68 years, 7 months and 22 days. Mrs. Rolfes was born Johannah Schmidt in Germany on March 28, 1847. She came to America with her parents in 1856, settling in Illinois. She was married to Mr. Rolfs there in 1867 and made their home there unitl 1884 when they removed to Hastings, NE. They lived at Spencer, NE from 1893 to 1902 when they removed to Hartington where they have since resided. Mrs. Rolfes is survived by her husband, five children, Mrs. Jos. Bowers, and Mrs. D.J. Dyson and a Charles and Henry of Hartington, and Herman of Iowa, and 20 grandchildren as well as three brothers and two sisters. At an early age Mrs. Rolfs embraced the Lutheran faith to which she constantly adhered. She was a lovable woman, highly respected by all who knew her. The funeral service was held Monday afternoon, the services being conducted at the Lutheran Church by Rev. Nervig, the interment being made in the Hartington Cemetery.
