NEBRASKA CENSUS, 1856, DOUGLAS COUNTY,
NORTHERN DISTRICT.
The area included in the Northern District, corresponds rather closely to Douglas County as it is now. The Southern District was organized as Sarpy County in 1857. Because of confusion regarding county boundaries, due to changes made by the legislature, many names on this list will also be found on other lists. At Florence several hundred non-residents were included, Mormons in camp, who were awaiting orders to start to Utah. H. C. Anderson, who made this enumeration, certified, August 31, 1856, that the returns were correct.
