Curtis, William D. (25 Sep 1853 - 19 NOV 1921)
William D. Curtis died at his home in Rapid City, S. D., on Nov. 19, 1921, after a brief illness. His remains were brought to Fairchild, Eau Claire Co., Wis., arriving last Saturday, and were taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Mary Marvin, to await burial. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. J. Coram, were held Monday afternoon, and the remains were laid to rest in the Garden Valley Cemetery, which is on the farm of the deceased's pioneer parents.
William Curtis was born in the town of Merton, Waukesha Co., Wis., Sept. 25, 1853. His parents soon located on the farm in Garden Valley, where he grew to manhood. For the past thirty years his home has been in Dakota. He is survived by his wife and one son, William D. of Rapid City, S. D., two sisters, Mrs. J. C. Marvin of Fairchild and Mrs. J. W. Lawrence of Humbird, Clark County, and one brother, George Cutis of Sauk City.
There were many of his old friends at the cemetery to say the last goodbye, as the casket containing his remains was lowered to the grave.
