Newcomb, George (27 Feb 1851 - 11 JUN 1915)
Geo. Newcomb, one of the oldest settlers of this vicinity, died June 11, 1915, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Wm. Huntley. He was born in Washington Co., Wis., Feb. 27, 1851; came to Clark County in 1871, settling on the old homestead in Weston, where he has lived ever since. Nine weeks ago he was taken sick and later was brought to the city to be cared for by his sister. Mr. Newcomb was a man of sterling honesty, and did not have an enemy. He lived a quiet life by himself in the old home, in later years seldom going far from the farm. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Huntley of Neillsville and Mrs. T.E. Steele of Coloma. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Huntley residence, Rev. L.E. Coleman officiating.
