Hawkins, John (? - 25? Apr 1887)
A man named John Hawkins, belonging to M. Denney's crew, was drowned in the North Fork about three miles west of here (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.), on Monday last. His home was at Eau Claire, where he leaves a family of six children. The water being so high at that point, the body has, as yet, not been found, although the whole crew of men searched all of Monday afternoon and Tuesday.
LATER - Body has been found and sent to Eau Claire for burial.
