Lubrant, Joseph (31 OCT 1868 - 19 JUL 1942)
Joseph Lubrant, resident of the Town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), died at his home on July 19th, 1942, from an attack of heart trouble. He was 75 years old at the time of his death.
Mr. Lubrant was born in Poland on Oct. 31, 1868, where he resided until coming to America in 1890. He was united in marriage with Katherine Garbarkewicz on Aug. 25th, 1904 in Petersburg, Ill.
After his arrival in America (1891) he worked in a coal mine in Girad, Illinois In 1912 he moved to Thorp which was his home until the time of his death.
Relatives surviving are: his widow, Mrs. Katherine Lubrant, and six daughters: Mrs. Walter (Emma) Tyznik of Lublin, Mrs. Anna Oleyjniczak of Chicago, Mrs. Wm. (Josephine) Ciolkosz of Chicago, Mrs. Ray (Helen) Falkowski, Mrs. Ted (Martha) Markowski of Lublin and Rose at home. Also 18 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Church at Lublin on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., Rev. John Palaszewski officiating. Anton, Walter and Stanley Oejniczak, Henry Lubrant and Walter and Ray Tyznik, grandsons of the deceased, acted as pallbearers. The flower bearers were Clara and Leona Markowski, Ruthie Tyznik, and Arthur Ciolkosz.
*Coal Mine--The Girard Coal Mine was sunk in 1869-1870. It closed in 1922 and was a terrific blow to the economy of Girard. A new coal mine was sunk, Crown Mine No. 2. The work began in 1975 ans was operating by late 1976. It is located on the Girard side of the township road between Girard and Virden. Its branch railroad crosses the road going into Virden Township to join the C.B. & Q. line.
Burial was at the parish cemetery.

**Katherine Lawcewicz died of old age complications at Havenet Nursing Home at Owen on Nov. 9th, 1961, the deceased was born on Nov. 28th in the year of 1880.
