Mrs. Helen Schwantes Had Stroke of Paralysis
A sad thing and a near tragedy occurred in the village last week when the children of Mrs. Helen Schwantes called on her and found the house locked. Thinking she was away they were about to leave but decided to look in the window and saw her in bed. They broke in and found her unconscious from a stroke of paralysis. She had been last seen late Wednesday afternoon. Fortunately the house was warm as her oil heater was still burning. She was rushed to St. Joseph hospital where everything is being done for her comfort, but up to this writing she has not regained consciousness. Her two daughters, Mrs. Laura Manthe and Mrs. Myrtle Greeler and two sons, Emil and Alvin Schwantes and wives and a special nurse are caring for her. Her friends hope for a speedy recovery.
