Kuester, Mr./Mrs. William (Gold – 7 MAY 1914)
Mr. and Mrs. William Kuester of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, May 10, 1964.
The honored couple was married in Greenwood May 7, 1914, by the Rev. Otto
Saewert, pastor of the Immanuel Reformed Church, at the home of her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. August Goeke.
William Christie Kuester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Kuester, was born in
Greenwood December 15, 1892. He received his education in the town of Warner
School.
Mrs. Kuester, the former Emma Wilhelmina Goeke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August
Goeke, was born August 5, 1896, in Newton and received her education there. At
the age of 13 years she came to Greenwood with her parents.
After their marriage, the Kuesters farmed west of Greenwood until 1939, when
they built the Parkway Club, one mile north of Greenwood, which they operated
until 1959, when they retired and moved to the city of Greenwood.
The anniversary couple have four children, Lawrence St. Louisl, Mo.; Leon, and
Miss Loretta Kuester, both of Greenwood; and Mrs. Douglas (Eldora) Luther,
Junction City. They also have four grandchildren.
