Manthe, Charles (23 SEP 1902 – 4 JUN 1971)

Charles Manthe, 68, of route 2, Spencer, died Friday, June 4, 1971, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Funeral services were held Monday in Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. William Ruhbusch, pastor, officiated, and burial was made in the West Spencer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronald Salardau, James Newmier, Pat Patterson, Donald Schwantes, Steve Skaya and Arthur Zuelke. The congregation sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and Jerusalem, My Happy Home," accompanied by Mrs. Arnold Bruesewitz at the organ.

Mr. Manthe was born September 23, 1902, in Spencer, and received his education in Spencer area schools. He was married to Mabel Herman, June 13, 1935, in Wisconsin Rapids. The couple made their home in the Spencer area. He had been employed at Weyerhaeuser Company in Marshfield for 36 years prior to his retirement on August of this past year. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Kaye) Scheuer, Marshfield; Mrs. Janice De Graff, address unknown; Mrs. Patrick (Alva) Brownyer, Stratford; a son, Willard Manthe, San Bernardino, California; six grandchildren and six sisters, Mrs. Edith Paasch, Marshfield; Mrs. Augusta Miller, Unity; Mrs. Ray Sabatke, Beaver Dam; Mrs. Edward Borns; Watertown; Mrs. Bertha Wichman, Shawano, and Mrs. Lucille Josephson, Elkhart Lake.
