Clendenning, Frances “Fran” M. (Knop) (13 JUL 1920 - 25 NOV 2014)
Frances “Fran” M. Clendenning, age 94, of 650 Pearl Street, Rib Lake, passed
away on Tuesday, November 25 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield where she had
been a patient for the past 9 days.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, November 29 at St. John’s
Ev. Lutheran Church, Rib Lake, with Reverend James Heffner officiating.
Interment will be at the Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake.
Pallbearers are Mel, Jake and Peter Clendenning, Jonathan Mealey, Mike Coleman
and John Hein.
Visitation will take place at 11:30 A.M. until the time of services at 1:30 P.M.
Saturday, November 29 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Rib Lake.
Fran was born on July 13, 1920 in Rib Lake, to Carl and Bertha (Kalk) Knop.
She attended Fawn Valley Grade School and was a 1938 graduate of Rib Lake High
School.
On May 20, 1943, in Chicago, IL, she was married to Charles P. Clendenning. He
preceded her in death on December 29, 1970.
After high school, Fran moved to Chicago where she was employed by Western
Electric during WWII. She and her husband moved back to Rib Lake in 1945, where
she was employed at Gem products in Rib Lake as a sewing machine operator for 30
years until her retirement. In her later years she enjoyed playing cards and
also traveling to Europe, Greece, and Hawaii.
Fran was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Rib Lake and their Ladies
Aid; Rib Lake Community Club and a member of the Lehman-Clendenning American
Legion Auxiliary in Rib Lake. Past member of the Tuesday Morning Bowling League
in Medford and Thursday Evening Ladies Bowling League in Rib Lake at the Little
Bohemia Bowling Lanes.
She is survived by her children, Lee Clendenning of Rib Lake and Gale
Clendenning of Marshfield; 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; also
survived by Nieces, Nephews, other Relatives and Friends.
Fran is predeceased by her parents, Carl and Bertha (Kalk) Knop; brothers,
Charles, Harvey, John, Harry and Robert Knop.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fran’s family to be designated at a
later date.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake is assisting the family with
arrangements.
