Budrus, Marcella Angela “Marcy” (4 APR 1923 - 25 JAN 2017)

Marcella A. “Marcy” Budrus, age 93, of Thorp, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Miller Alternative Care, in Thorp.

A prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4 at Thorp Funeral Home, conducted by Fr. Madanu Lourdu Raju. Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home, on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Lublin.

Marcella Angela Budrus was born on April 4, 1923 in Lublin, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Grajek) Budrus. She was raised in the Lublin area, where she went to grade school, graduated from Owen High School in 1940, and earned her teaching degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis campus. Marcy taught English at Gilman High School until she retired. She was known to be a tough and caring teacher to all her students.

Marcy had many interests, but especially loved quilting, gardening (flowers and vegetables), reading books, and watching Western movies. She always had a beautiful garden filled with unique plants. She appreciated beautiful collectables and filled her house with them.

She loved spending time with all her family and taught many of her nieces how to sew and do other crafts. Marcy enjoyed traveling, in particular her trip to Germany and her many visits to Minneapolis to go shopping at the Oval Room at Dayton's for her yearly wardrobe update, including lunch at the Nankin.

She was also an avid sports fan, including the local Lublin baseball team, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, and she loved her dogs, Aisha and Spike, and is now feeding them treats once again.

Marcy is survived by her best friend and lifetime companion, Frank Sweda of Lublin; two brothers, George (Bernice) Budrus of Mosinee, and Edward Budrus of Appleton; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Marcy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Agnes Gryczkowski and Margaret (Edwin) Klewicki; and one sister-in-law, Wanda Budrus.

Marcy's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Miller Alternative in Thorp, for filling her last years with love, care and comfort.
