Smith, Vera L. (14 NOV 1904 – 10 JUL 1973)

(Note: Her maiden name was Garvin - provided by Dolores (Mohr) Kenyon)

Vera L. Smith, 68, of Rt. 1, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), died at 7:00 p.m. July 10, 1973 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Rinka Funeral Home, with David E. Wenger officiating. Burial was in the Loyal Cemetery. The Rinka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Reuben Litka, Raymond Ertl, Arnold Stumpner, Hugh Darton, Joseph Esselman, Albert Wehrman, Frank Degenhardt, and Ervin Schmidt.

Mrs. Allen Schoonover sang "Abide with Me" and "Nearer My God to Thee." Jodi Schoonover was the organist.

Vera Smith was born November 14, 1904 in York Center (Clark Co.).

She was married on October 19, 1923 to David Smith, who survives her.

She was a member of the Garden Club and the Pelsdorf Homemakers Club.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Donald, Rt. 1, Loyal, and Harry, Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Jane) Bertz, Neillsville, and Mrs. Kenneth (Lois) Degenhardt, Milwaukee; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter, and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Devore, Steele, N.D.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
