Somerville, Wendell Earl (14 SEP 1954 - 14 APR 2018)
Wendell Earl Somerville, 63, of Ladysmith, passed away after battling a long
illness on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the University of Minnesota Medical
Center – Fairview in Minneapolis, Minn.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1954, in La Crosse, to Wendell and Evelyn (Scholze)
Somerville. He married the love of his life, Patricia (Hosig), on Oct. 6, 1979
in Sauk City.
Wendell is survived by his wife, Patricia; his mother, Evelyn Somerville of
Black River Falls; his sons, Greg (Carrie) Somerville of Campbellsport and Ryan
(Shana) Somerville of Cameron; his daughter, Amanda (Christopher) Thompson of
Apple Valley, Minn.; his grandsons, Brett and Nathan Somerville; his
granddaughters, Emma and Hayleigh Somerville; his sisters, Karen (Ray) Harwick
of Black River Falls, Linda (James) Schmidt of Elk Mound, Susan Somerville
(Carol Moore) of Black River Falls and Donna Wall of La Crosse, as well as many
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wendell James Somerville and his
grandson, Jayson.
Wendell grew up in North Bend and graduated from Melrose-Mindoro High School in
1972. In 1975 he enlisted in the Air Force, serving on bases in Mississippi and
Hawaii, where he met Patricia. During his service, Wendell was a relay
communications technician serving Air Force One. In 1979 he was honorably
discharged and moved to Eau Claire. In 1993, the family moved to Ladysmith where
they later purchased a home in the country in 2000.
Wendell loved the outdoors, camping, yardwork and spending time with his family.
He was a beloved husband and father who would offer a helping hand to anyone in
need. He will be forever loved and missed by his friends and family.
A funeral was held on Friday, April 20 at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home with Pastor
Eddie Crise officiating.
Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith.
