Kangas, Charles A. (15 APR 1881 – 24 FEB 1972)
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen,
for Charles A. Kangas, 90, of route 1, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), who died last
Thursday.
The Rev. H. Aukee, Duluth, Minnesota, officiated, and burial was made in
Riverside Cemetery. Hoeper-Kraut Funeral Home of Owen had charge of
arrangements.
Mr. Kangas was born April 15, 1881 in Finland, and came to the United States in
1902 and settled in Ishpeming, Michigan. He was married in Ishpeming, Michigan
August 29, 1903 to Hulda Kuoppala, who survives him. The couple resided in
Michigan until 1911, when they came to Withee, where they operated a farm.
He was a charter member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, are two sons, William Kangas, Owen, and
Toivo Kangas, route 1, Withee; a daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Eva) Buss, route 1,
Withee; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters in
Finland.
He was preceded in death by a son.
