Anton Furlon was born June 13, 1885 in Jugoslavia. He came to the United States
in 1907. He lived in Lorrain, Ohio until 1911 when he came to Gorman.
Many winter evenings the young men in the area gathered at his cabin. Some came
to get a haircut for which he charged 10 cents, some played cards, but most came
to visit and exchange the latest news. Often his visitors would arrive before he
finished barn chores and there were times when he had difficulty in getting his
"guests" to leave so he could go to bed.
Anton farmed in the area until 1959 when he sold his farm to Pete Bogdonovich
and moved to Greenwood. In 1964 he entered Memorial Home at Neillsville where he
passed away on May 4, 1967.
