Ida Farning, 303 N. 3rd Street, Colby, retired after 10 years of helping to
prepare meals at Colby High School and the upper elementary.
Mrs. Farning’s day started at 6:30 a.m., when she would start preparing the noon
meal. By 10:30 a.m., with the help of others, the food would be packed and she
would leave for serving the students at the upper elementary school.
After everyone was served, she would collect all pots, pans, trays and
silverware and return them to the main kitchen, where she would clean them.
Mrs. Farning never miss one work day due to sickness in all of the years of work
at the schools.
