Durham, Reita Ann (14 May 1 with an ivory1983)

Reita Ann Durham and James Patrick Gelander were united in marriage on Saturday afternoon, May 14, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. Parents of the couple are Keith and Beth Durham, Rt. 4 Neillsville, and Robert and Dorothy Gelander, Rt. 1, Willard.

Special music at the service was offered by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tess, Richard Durham and Kerry Durham.

Serving as matron of honor was Barbara Opelt, who was joined by Becky Opelt, both of Neillsville. Bestman was Kasimir Kolano, who was joined by Kent Durham, both of Neillsville. Ushering were Kendall Durham and Chris Jones.

The bride wore a dress of ice blue satin with an ivory lace overlay and featuring a sweetheart neckline and lace sleeves. She carried a lace parasol decorated with pale blue and pink roses. Her matron of honor wore a blue-flowered print dress with ivory lace trim, the bridesmaid wore a rose-flowered dress, also with ivory lace trim.

Following the service, a reception was held at the bride’s home, which was followed by a dance at the Silver Dome Ballroom.

The bride is a 1980 graduate of Neillsville High School. Her husband is a part-time farmer and employee at M&E Development of Neillsville. The new Mr. and Mrs. Gelander will make their home in Willard.

Lisa Therese, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al Weix was baptized Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eau Claire. The Rev. Eiden officiated at the 11 a.m. service, in which her two sisters, Linda, age 7, and Laurie, age 6, took part in the offertory.

Baptismal sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. Eric Gerlach, Marshfield. A dinner was served at the Weix home after the services.

Her fiancé, also a 1975 graduate of Colby High School, is a bulk milk hauler for AMPI, Abbotsford.

The couple is planning an autumn wedding.

Louis A. Riemer, 73, Watertown, Wisconsin, died suddenly at his home December 9, 1977. He was born March 13, 1904 to the late Albert and Rose Riemer in the Town of Green Grove and lived there for 22 years.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, one son, 16 grandchildren; one brother, Leonard, Watertown; a sister, Nelda Stefan, Hartford.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Ernest, and two sisters, Sadie and Meta.

Haufe, Roland M. (30 Jun 1930 – 23 Dec 1977)

Funeral services for Roland M. Haufe, 47, Dorchester, who died at his home Friday, December 23, 1977, were held Tuesday at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Dorchester. The Rev. Roland Golz officiated and burial was in the Stetsonville Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Haufe was born June 30, 1930 in the Town of Holton. He married the former Betty Dettman on September 21, 1954. They are divorced.

Mr. Haufe farmed in the Town of Mayville. He also worked for the Dorchester Co-op Feed Store and later was employed at the Sauter Brothers Feed Store.

During the Korean War Mr. Haufe served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Dorchester American Legion.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Haufe, Alpine, Texas, and Carol Haufe, Unity; four sons, Roger, Dorchester, and Donald, Jerry and Dennis, Unity; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Martha) Winchell, Dorchester, and Mrs. Alvin (Lillian) Stauner, Medford.

Pallbearers were Clarence Block, Larry and LeRoy Neuenfeldt, Ed McKee, Rex Penny and Dennis Dettman.

Bell, Eileen D. (29 June 1938 – 30 August 2024)


Eileen D. Bell age 86 of Neillsville went home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2024, at Liberty House in Fond du Lac, WI.


Eileen was born on June 29, 1938, to William and Dora (Scheel) Hoffman in Globe. She attended Globe School K-8th grade and Neillsville High School 9-12th grade. She graduated from Neillsville High School in 1957.


Eileen married the love of her life Bob W. Bell on April 26, 1958. In the fall of 1958 they purchased a farm in Christie where they worked very hard together to provide for their family. In addition to farming she raised four girls. She had a big garden and did a lot of canning. She always had big meals on the table for her family and the hired men. She was always willing to entertain and had numerous parties with friends and family. For many years she hosted groups of deer hunters at her house.


In the fall of 1989, after 30 years of farming, they sold the farm and moved to Neillsville. Eileen cleaned houses and cared for her mom and aunt. Eileen was a member of Happy Homemakers Club, and was actively involved in the Happy Valley 4-H Club with her children. Eileen was involved with many groups at her church throughout the years. She belonged to the choir, the Ladies Aid, the Lights Club, and OWLS. Eileen was a woman of great faith and abundant love. She will be sourly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her greatest work in her life was her investment into her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.


Eileen is survived by her four children, Barb (Ron) Allen of Altoona, IA., Linda (Ron) Rogus of Neillsville, Sue (Colyn) Luchterhand of Janesville, WI, and Cheryl (Steve) Grade of Fond du Lac, WI. Eight grandchildren, Carrie Birkett, Amanda (David) Fugate, Amber (David) Siler, Megan (Brock) Jones, Nicole Grade, Ashely (Brandon) Vande Slunt, Corey Allen and Alexis Minson, Breanna Allen and Mike Lenox. 13 great-grandchildren Marissa, Kamdyn, David Floyd, Ahnna, Aubrey, Penny, Evelyn, Oliver, Madison, Kinzley, Emily, Hadley, and Chloe. Her nephew Fred, and some cousins.


She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Bell, two precious angels whom she never met on earth but are now reunited in heaven, her father William Hoffman, her mother Dora Hoffman, her brother Melvin Hoffman, and some aunts, uncles, and cousins.


A viewing/visitation will be held Thursday September 5th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, WI. Funeral Services will be held September 6th, visitation at 11:00 with funeral at 12:00 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. A meal will follow at St. John’s.


We would like to thank The Liberty House of Fond du Lac, for the wonderful care they gave our mom over the past 10 months, and their hospitality and caring for her and her family during her last days. We also want to thank Compassus Hospice in Neenah, WI for the care they gave our mom.


All monetary donations will be given to St. John's Lutheran Church. The family asks for donations in lieu of flowers due to family allergies.

Boushon, Valeria Ann Florence (8 September 1936 – 31 August 2024)

Valeria Ann Florence (Lohrman) Boushon, 87 of Chili, passed away on Aug. 31, 2024, at Vita Care Assistant Living in Stratford, surrounded by Family.

Val was born to Max and Anna Lohrman on Sep. 8, 1936. Val was one of five children of Max and Anna. She attended Auburndale high school until her family moved to the Marshfield area. Val then attended the Marshfield high school, where she met Laura (Boushon) Koffler. Laura then introduced Val to her brother Donald, who she later married. Don and Val married on Nov. 9, 1954, at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield. They were married for 66 wonderful years, until Don passed away on Dec. 10, 2020.

She is survived by her children Kris Boushon Stratford, Gary (Danielle) Boushon Granton, Lori (Garey) Plymesser Neillsville, and her 11 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents Max and Anna Lohrman, husband Donald Boushon, daughter Cheryl Boushon, son Mike Boushon and great grandson Alex Oliver.

Don and Val loved spending time together, they liked to take long drives down back roads looking for deer. Val had the biggest heart and always loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. Near the end Val was short on words but big on love!

A memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church in Chili. Pastor Dan Schoessow will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Yolo Cemetery in Chili.

Val's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Vita Care for Val's care. And a very special thank you to the Moments hospice care givers who took such amazing care of her in her last moments.

Lewien, Paul Vincent (7 May 1962 – 1 September 2024)

Paul V. Lewien, age 62, of Neenah, formerly of Thorp, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Adava Care of Irish Road in Neenah.

Paul Vincent Lewien was born on May 7, 1962, in Stanley, to Steven J. "Steve" and Elizabeth J. "Betty" (Quade) Lewien, Sr. He was raised and received his education in Thorp, graduating from Thorp High School in 1980. After high school, Paul attended UW-Stevens Point and then went to work at Lake Dubay State Park as a park ranger. He worked as a park ranger for many years. Paul then worked in Chippewa Falls, as a grocery store manager for a few years, and finally in Medford, as a grocery store produce supervisor. After suffering a stroke, he moved to Neenah in 2019, near his brother Fred, where he has resided until his death. He had many interests, but especially loved the outdoors.

Paul is survived by three brothers: Steve (Noel) Lewien, Jr. of Clinton, IA, Fred (Marsha) Lewien of Neenah, David (Mary) Lewien of Ellsworth; one sister: Mary (Al) Stouff of Medford; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rich Lewien.

A private family burial will take place in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, in Thorp. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Paul’s life on Saturday, September 28th. A Potluck Picnic will be held at Brunet Island State Park, Beach Picnic Shelter, from 1:00-4:00 pm. Feel free to bring a dish and memories to share.
