Lloyd, Ray (Birthday - 1983)
A birthday party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Prior, Loyal. Honored
were Ray Lloyd, Rt. 4, Neillsville, who was 79 on May 17, along with Ray was his
sister, Vera Shumway, and a brother, Byno, both of Neillsville. Two other
brothers could not attend. Ray has five children, 23 grandchildren and 17 great
grandchildren.

DeBauche, Roland Richard “Rol” (16 May 1951 – 7 September 2024)
Roland, “Rol” DeBauche, age 73, of Thorp, passed away at home on Saturday,
September 7, 2024. A Celebration of Life for Rol will be held from 1 p.m. to 4
p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Meadowview Golf Course, in Owen.
Roland Richard DeBauche was born on May 16, 1951, in Milwaukee, and was adopted
at the age of 6 months by Richard J. and Bernice (Writt) DeBauche. He was raised
and received his education in Stockton, IL, graduating from Stockton High School
in 1970. After high school, Rol began working as a self-employed painting
contractor. He was united in marriage to Susan L. Fisher on October 9, 1982, at
St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. They resided in Stockton
until moving back to Thorp in 1984. They were the proud parents of Sara Beth and
Richie DeBauche, born in 1985 and 1987. Rol continued painting until he retired,
and then worked at Meadowview Golf Course in Owen for the last 8 years.
Intermittently, he was a dedicated caretaker for troubled youth and disabled
adults.
He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, the Knights of
Columbus, and the Wisconsin Trailblazers Sled Dog Club. Rol had many interests,
but especially loved dog sledding, which he did for many years, hunting,
golfing, and model trains.
He was passionate in everything he did, taking great pride in his work, his
nearly 50 years as a dog musher, and in his family.
Rol will be dearly missed by his wife, Susan, of Thorp; one daughter, Sara Beth
DeBauche of Granite Falls, MN; one son, Richard, and daughter-in-law, Jessica
DeBauche, of Waunakee, and one grandson, Carson DeBauche. He was preceded in
death by his parents, and one sister, Jane DeBauche.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given in Rol’s name to
continue the work he left behind at Meadowview Golf Course.

Services for Clinton Spence Helfrey, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. David Helfrey,
Dorchester, were held at the Maurina Funeral Home in Dorchester Saturday,
January 21, 1978.
The Rev. Roland Golz officiated at the services for the infant, who died Monday,
January 16, 1978, after being born earlier in the day. Burial was in Dorchester
Memorial Cemetery.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Cooper, Dorchester.

Marshfield to Mr. and Mrs. Willard Meyers, Curtiss. They were named Kristina Lee
and Katherine Ann and weighed 6 pounds, 6 ½ ounces and 6 pounds, 11 ounces,
respectively.

Two former Unity residents, Tillie and George Miller Sr., were chosen queen and
kin of the gay 90’s party held at the Colonial House of Colby. They both
celebrated their 90th birthdays this past weekend and were honored with birthday
parties by members of their families. Many friends, relatives and residents
attended the birthday party for George Miller.

Navy Fireman Apprentice Daniel R. Mullins, so of Paul J. Mullins of P.O. Box
223, Abbotsford, has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center,
Orlando, Florida.
During the eight-week training cycle, trainees studied general military subjects
designed to prepare them for further academic and on-the-job training in one of
the Navy’s 85 basic occupational fields.
Included in their studies were seamanship, close order drill, Naval history and
first aid.
He joined the Navy in October 1977.

Miss Johnson, a 1974 graduate of Abbotsford High School, was graduated on 1976
from North Central Technical Institute, Wausau, with an associate degree in
accounting. She is presently employed by J. F. Tillman Associates at Stevens
Point.
Her fiancé, a 1975 graduate of Colby High School, and a 1976 graduate of the
mechanical drafting program at NCTI, is employed at Wausau Homes, Inc.
A May 20, 1978 wedding is being planned by the couple.

Services for Mrs. Herbert (Esther) Zelm Sr., Lublin, the mother of Mrs. Gordon
Armbrust of Curtiss, were held Friday, January 20, 1978 at the Maurina Funeral
Home, Abbotsford. She died Tuesday at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire at the
age of 64.
Jerry Herring, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in
Abbotsford, of which she was a member, conducted the services. Burial was in the
Riverside Cemetery, Withee.
The former Esther Shank, who was an artist, was born November 10, 1913 in
Danville, Illinois. She married Herbert Zehm Sr., who survives, on June 15,
2929, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They lived in New Ulm, Minnesota after their
marriage, and for the past six years lived in Lublin.
She is survived by her mother, Mabel Shank, Winnebago; five sons, Herbert Zehm
Jr., Blue Earth, Minnesota, Raymond, California, Fred, Wells, Minnesota, Lee,
New Richland, Minnesota, and David, McAlester, Oklahoma; five daughters, Mrs.
Wayne (Roberta) Sachs, St. Paul, Mrs. Gordon (Ruth) Armbrust, Curtiss, Mrs.
William (Lueva) McCrite, Philadelphia, Mrs. John (Jo) Schmidt, Lublin, and Mrs.
Tony (Gladys) Diaz, Wells.
Three sisters, two brothers, 24 grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Pallbearers were Lee, Fred and Ray Zehm, John Schmidt, Gordon Armbrust and Tony
Diaz.
