The National High School Track and Cross Country Coaches Association (NHSTXCCA), in collaboration with Colby High School, is proud to announce that Daelyn Rieck has earned All-American honors for the 2024 track and field season in the discus event. This recognition is part of the NHSTXCCA’s inaugural All-American class, with Colby’s Coach Bryon Graun serving as the association’s vice president.

Each discipline in track and field has a specific standard to determine All-American winners. For the 2024 season, the standard for discus is 128 feet. Rieck surpassed this mark three times during the season, with her best throw reaching 129 feet 10 inches on May 3rd at the Cloverbelt Conference meet and again at the WIAA Sectional meet on May 23rd. These throws not only met the All-American standard but also broke the Colby High School record, which Daelyn herself had set the previous year.

During the 2024 season, Rieck had a highly successful season, finishing in first place at nine meets and placing 2nd and 3rd in two others. She also competed in the shot put with similar success, earning ten first-place finishes and one 4th-place finish. Daelyn capped her season at the WIAA State Championships, where she finished in 2nd place in the discus and 4th place in the shot put.

Head Coach Chrisie Wright praised Rieck’s achievements, stating, “This is a significant accomplishment, and we are thrilled to celebrate with Daelyn. We are incredibly proud of her, and she should be proud of herself as well.”

Daelyn was coached by her sister, Malayna, this past season. Interestingly, Malayna held the school record before Daelyn broke it as a freshman in 2023. The sister duo has been a formidable team, and the Colby track and field community is honored to have Daelyn receive this award. They eagerly anticipate what she will achieve in her final two seasons as a Hornet.
