These births are indexed by the child's surname.  In some of the listings you will notice a number, most often "1" following the child's 1st name.  I have found by comparing these particular births on the cds with the old birth index books, that the books more often than not list the child as 
"infant of ___" - the blank being the father's or the mother's first name.
