Motion, the further consideration of all bills be deferred till the next meeting.

Motion of Guy C. Barnum that the bonds voted for the 9th day of April at a special election for the issuing of $75,000 Platte County Bonds for bridge purposes, pending which motion a general and thorough discussion of the rejection of the Walker precinct vote, the legality of issuing the bonds until the matter could be brought before the courts, the propriety of resubmitting the question to the people there being no second to Mr. Barnum's motion.

Com. G. W. Galley moved that we issue no bonds under the late election and votes as returned by the canvassers and that a new election be called, there being no second to Mr. Galley's motion.

Com. J. W. Early then seconded the motion of Com. Barnum that the Clerk be ordered to prepare and issue said bonds for $75,000 as per his original motion. Barnum and Early voting 'aye', Galley voting 'no'.

Motion of Com. Barnum that the bonds be issued of $1,000 each and the Clerk negotiate for the lithographing of the same at the best and lowest terms.

47 gopher scalps were destroyed.

At a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners held May 21st 1872 in the court house.

Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.

Claims of John and Fred Gerber and J. O. Blodgett for damage by location of county road on west side of Loup Fork to the town of Jackson were considered and allowed. John Gerber $15.00, Fred Gerber $12.00 and J. O. Blodgett $12.00 to be paid out of Butler precinct road fund.

Communication of Auditor of State making returns of the lands of the Union Pacific Rail Road Company and Western Telegraph Company was read and the Clerk ordered to make no changes but to allow the assessment as made by the Board of equalization to stand on the corrected rolls, the returns not having been made at the proper time.

Motion of Com. Barnum that as the Blanks for taking the census were not received till two late to make the returns as required by law, that the same be laid over. 1 Petition and bond of P. H. Kelly and others for the oration of Central Division Road was read and laid over till next meeting, the necessary time for notice not haling been given.

District of Com Barnum, the supervisor of Columbus the be ordered to fix the mill race near Platte river same being in a dangerous condition for teams.

Motion of Com. Early, the supervisor of Bismark precinct put in a temporary bridge on Wurdemann Creek for present uses, there being no means of crossing said creek on the Stanton County Road.

The report of James E. North, appointed at the last meeting to view the County Road petitioned for from Scully's bridge and running north of Shell Creek, was reported adversely, the road as petitioned for being impracticable.

Bill of Ticehurst and Bump for lightning rod on court house 339 feet at 22 1/3 76.27 was laid over and F. Fields ordered to measure said rod.

Motion of Com. Early, the Clerk prepare lists of lands and polls for the use of the several precinct supervisors.

Petition of C. B. Stillman, J. P. Becker and 20 others was presented asking that counsel be employed by the county commissioners to try if possible and have "temporary injunction" dissolved, restraining them from issuing certain bonds for building bridges.

Motion of Com. Early that counsel be employed as petitioned for and that Leander Gerrard, Esqr. be employed as said counsel. (No vote taken).

Motion of Com. Galley that the Clerk incur no further expense in obtaining bonds until the matter of injunction be decided.

F. Fields reported he had measured the lightning rod carefully and found it measured 290 feet.

Motion of Com. Barnum that the Clerk draw an order in favor of Ticehurst and Bump for 295 feet of lightning rods at 22 1/2 cents per foot on court house fund $66.38.

Motion of Com. Barnum that the vote to employ counsel taken at the last meeting of the Board be recorded. Barnum and Early 'aye', Galley 'no'.

The petition to locate Central Division County Road was adpoted (sic) and John G. Routson appointed Com. to survey the same.

The Clerk was ordered to inquire if the iron standards to secure the lightning rods are measured as the lineal foot or separate from the rod, and if measured separately, that an order for 24 feet be drawn.

Petition of M. Keller and others asking for the abandonment and remonstrance of Chris Meedel and others against abandonment of an old road known as the old military road was read and discussed and upon suggestion of the petitioners presenting the petition any further action be taken till next meeting.

Motion of Com. Barnum, the matter be laid over as requested.

Petition of James Walker and others from Walker precinct requesting the commissioners to have their votes cast at the special election held April 9th 1872, counted or order the same to be done was accepted. Motion of Com. Galley, the same be filed for further consideration.

The Clerk ordered to draw an order for 24 feet of lightning rod not counted in the first measurement amounting to $5.40 out of C. H. Fund.

The petition of James Walker and others from Walker precinct asking the counting of certain votes was laid over.

Petition of Shea, Moriarity and others for county road from Scully's bridge in Sec. 13, T 17, R 2 west was accepted and Jas. E. North appointed to locate the same.

Report of Jacob Ernst, road supervisor for repairing Platte river bridge and building 2 other bridges west of the Loup Fork was accepted and bills allowed and that $4.00 per day be allowed to Jacob Ernst while repairing and working on said bridges.

Motion of G. C. Barnum, the treasurer was ordered to advertise the lands of the U. P. R. R. Co. outside the ten mile limit in this county as delinquent and offer the same at the sale of lands for taxes as provided by law.

Motion of J. W. Early that the Clerk publish a notice to vacate the State road located through the county by J. O. Shannon on the 1st day of August 1871, said road being a bundle of errors, and running parallel in many places with county roads already established of accredited benefit and needed by the settlers of the County.

The Clerk was ordered to subscribe for a copy of the Platte journal to be filed in the county clerk's office.

The Clerk was ordered to file the following relinquishing of claim for damage.

Petition of E. Pilling and others for a road commencing NE corner, Sec. 35, T 19, R 1 east thence north to north line of Sec. 2, T 1, R 1 East. J. G. Routson appointed commissioner to view and locate the same. Petition of D. Magoon and others for 2 roads commencing at Sec. 20, T 18, R 2 west also one from 1/2 Sec. line of Sec. 30, T 18, R 2 west. John G. Routson, appointed commissioner to view and locate the same.

Report of J. E. North, commissioner appointed to locate county road petitioned for by Tom Shea and others was presented and adopted. Bills allowed and ordered spread on Road Record.

Motion of Com. Early, Augustus Miller was appointed justice of the peace in Columbus Precinct to fill the vacancy occasioned by the death of Jer. A. Platt and until his successor is elected and qualified.

Supervisor Ernst was ordered to enlarge the culvert near the house of Frederick Gottschalk in Columbus precinct.

The commissioners authorized the Clerk to have a cellar constructed for the use of the jailor's family.

Petition for the creating of new precincts was laid over.

Motion of Com. Early, Frank Fields was appointed Commissioner to view and locate 2 county roads petitioned for by D. Magoon and others, J. G. Routson having resigned his appointment.

John Lucid presented a claim for damage by location of a county road from Scully's bridge running through the W 1/2 of S.E 1/4, S T 18, R 2 West, at 20 dollars per acre.

Motion of Com. Barnum, 40 dollars were allowed to John Lucid for 20 acres of his land taken for a county road to be paid out of the Shell Creek Road Fund.

Petition of Wm. Lewis and others for a bridge across Shell Creek in T 19, R vest, was referred back to the petitioners there being no public road at said point.

Petition of O. E. Stearns and others for the abandonment of a portion of Union Creek road and relocation of the same was filed and J. G. Routson appointed to view and locate the same.

Petition of H. Wellman and others asking the commissioners to order the street in front of court house square graded.

Motion of Com. Galley, the Clerk was ordered to have street commissioner grade the east half of Washington Avenue, opposite the court house graded and charge the same to the county.

Report of John G. Routson, commissioner appointed to locate North Looking Glass road was read. Report adopted and ordered recorded in Road Record and bills allowed $16.00

The Sheriff made application to the board for somo relief for the support of Andrew Bell.

Motion of G. C. Barnum that Hy. Wellman tighten the bolts and screws in the new bridge across Looking Glass creek on the Genoa road.

The term of one year for which the county physician was appointed having expired, there being no complaints against the physician and he offering to continue his services at the same salary for the ensuing year on motion of Com. Barnum, seconded by J. W. Early that Dr. E. Hohen be appointed county physician for the ensuing year at the sum of $250.00 dollars per year to include services, medicine and mileage.

Motion of Com. Early, the Clerk drew an order for 3 acres of land instead of 2 acres as ordered at last meeting in favor of John Lucid, that being the amount of land taken from him by the location of county road.

The petitions presented asking for the organizing of two new precincts was taken and on motion of Com. Early that Humphrey precinct be organized consisting of T 20, R 1 east and T 20, Ranges 1 and 2 west, elections to be held at Walter Meads.

Motion of Com. Early that Stearns precinct be organized, consisting of T 19, R 1 west and east 1/2 of T 1 R2 west, election to be held at the halfway house.

Overseer Miller was requested to furnish the family of Mrs. Lottie Jones with any supplies that are necessary.

The Clerk was authorized to communicate with the friends of Isaac Blizzard and inquire if they will support them if forwarded to them by the commissioners of Platte county.

Motion of Com. Early that in pursuance of the published notice of the proposed abandonment of the State road laid out in July 1871 by J. O. Shannon, Esqr., through Platte county there being no objections filed or remonstrancing thereto to said abandonment, the same be declared abandoned and vacated from and after this date.
Report of Coroner Stillman in the case of Andrew Egli was read and accepted and bill of expenses allowed.

The Clerk was ordered to issue election proclamation for State and County officers according to law.

Motion of G. C. Barnum, the Clerk be authorized to procure 3 carloads of coal for use of the offices and jail in the court house.

Motion of G. C. Barnum, the commissioners meet at the court house at 2 o'clock P. M. on the i4th day of

September for the purpose of inspecting the Platte river bridge with a view of securing the bridge from any freshets.

The commissioners selected sixty names for the selection of Grand and Petit jurors for the next term of District Court of Platte county.
