Would like help with these families: Thomas SHAFER (b 1855) marrried Clara B. BAKER ca1879/Highland Co. They had a son: Charles Shafer (b 1879/Highland Co). Would like death dates. Also would like death dates and spouses for the children of Joseph M. Baker and his wife Leticita Williams, all born Highland Co: Olive P. (1896), Myrtle V. (1898) and Truman (1899). Who did William Farris (b 1862) marry? He was the son of William S. Farris and Rachel Baker of Highland Co. The younger William had a son: Thompson A. Faris (b 1888). What happened to Thompson Faris? Finally, Rosella Ellen Donohoo (b 1870/Highland Co) married a Fawley. What was his first name? Did they have any children?

My ancestor, Avery Ann HOBBS, married Jackson MASON and lived in Highland Co. ca1850. They were from Brunswick Co. VA. Also, James BROWN married Susan HOBBS and may have lived in Highland, Gholson P. HOBBS who married Lydia CLARK, and Patrick H. HOBBS who married Jane HETHERINGTON. Anyone who knows anything about the HOBBS family of Highland Co. please contact me. Thanks!

William & Emily Creed SERGEANT married in Highland Co. in 1843, living there by 1850 Census: William C., Emily C., Lafayette D., Jasper N., M.A.E., and Wm. A. William was a farmer and eventually had 3 more children: Maria, Amos and John. William and Emily were born (when?) in Virginia and need to know who their parents and family were. I appreciate any information.

Need information on Peter HOOP (abt 1751-71) and his brother John HOOP (abt1765-?). Both came to Highland Co from Shenandoah Co VA ca1800. I think they located in Hamer Township. Children married into the following families: MOORE, GIDDIS, WALKER. Peter and John are the brothers of my GGGGgrandmother, Susannaha HOOP DRUCK.

I am researching the COX family and need any info regarding Clement Vlandingham Cox (b 1863/64) who m. Mattie CHEESMAN [1872-1966]. They had 13 Children: Dell, Jess, Arnold, Jane, Nelson, Clella, baby deceased, Emma, Elva, Roy (b 26 Jan 1910), Mernith, Betty and Oliver (my G-Grandfather: 29 Aug 1893/Bainbridge-07 May 1974), who worked for the railroad. Oliver's last known residence was in S. Charleston OH. He married 22 Oct 1916 to Hazel Blanche Lee (29 Apr 1899-29 Jul 1973; dau of Franklin Lee and Etta Florence Smith [d 1903]. This family was known to have lived in Bainbridge-S. Charleston-Hillsboro area. I hope I've helped someone and will receive help.

John POULESS of PA married 04 Oct 1834 in Highland Co to Hannah BARNES (02 Feb 1805/PA-15 Oct 1891/Wells Co IN, dau of John Barnes [b 19 Apr 1772/VA] & Christina Jane Tederick [b 22 Sug 1779/VA] who are buried in the Barnes Cemetery, Fairview, Highland Co). John and Christina had ten children: Jacob, Rosannah, Hannah, William, Margaret, Peter, Charlot, Elizabeth, Teter and Christina. Will exchange information.

Seeking descendants of John Henry LAWHORN (b 1826) and married to Lyda A. WALROND and Elizabeth F. EAST. Were of Bedford Co VA and later Pike and Highland Counties OH. Children: Mary F, Martha E, Joseph H, Charles W, Julia M, Isaac L, Nannie J, and James A LAWHORN. Several of the family moved to Anderson IN.

My mother, Goldie NEWTON, married Elmer C. FOX. Her sisters were Sophie (m. William Winstel) and Edna (m. Frank Fore), and brother was Raymond (m. Barbara Koebel from Morrow OH). Their mother's maiden name was HARRIS. I am looking for anyone that has any history on them.

My Grandfathers lived in Highland Co in the 1800s, and I am looking for information on their residences, wills, and historical activity. George HOUSEMAN I and wife Margaret and George Houseman II and wife Elizabeth Betsy STROOP died and were buried in Roads Cemetery. George II lived with his son William (b 1805/New Market, Shenandoah Co VA) in Ross Co, and William's wife was Nancy THRASHER (from Bainbridge). Please help me find out more about them. Thank you.

Minerva BAKER (b 1856) married Rufus Barton SCHOCKEY 20 Dec 1877/ Highland Co. Would like exact death dates on them. Children: H. Scott, Elizabeth G., and Walter Elden, all b/Highland Co. Who did these children marry? Also, Nathan Baker (b 1858/Highland Co, son of Joseph Baker and Elizabeth Davidson) married Mary Zink. Would like her dates. Did they have any children?

Looking for families of Martha REID (dau of Barnet REID and Susannah STITLIN of Brown Co) m. Lewis EVANS on 12 Mar 1832/ Highland Co. Martha also has sisters Mary (m John EDMISTEN), Lydia REID (m. William GREENFIELD (b 16 Jan 1795) m. Elizabeth CRAWFORD (d/o Alexander CRAWFORDand Anna PIGMAN [d/o Jesse and Sarah LUCAS PIGMAN]) in 1822 Highland Co. Is anyone researching this GREENFIELD/CRAWFORD or LUCAS line?

My WEST family is from Highland Co. According to pension records, my GGGgrandfather, Esquire WEST, was born there July 5, 1809, son of William and Sarah WEST. William was in the War of 1812 and received land bounty in IN for it. Esquire (Squire) was in Brown/Bartholomew Cos IN by the Mex-Am War. He married Ranah MATHIS/MATTHEWS in Bartholomew Co IN in 1848. She was Cherokee. We have assumed that Esquire was one also. Any additional info will be helpful!

Would like further details on the children, their spouses and birthdates for a family book.

Martin D. PUCKETT m 14 Feb 1860, Highland Co to Nancy Florence (dau of Thomas Florence and Mary/Polly SPRINGER). What happened to this couple? Did they remain in Highland Co? Did they later move to Illinois?

In Sonner Cem. Highland Co is buried Annie E. Florence, wife of William, d 07 Jan 1896. Her death is also recorded in Highland Co. Is she the same as Ann E. Kelly (b Nov 1837, the wife of William Florence [b 29 Sep 1836, son of Thomas Florence and Mary/Polly Springer])? Did Ann E. and William Florence have any children? Lewis Coffman (b 1835) was married to Mary Florence 1862/Highland Co. Children: Orissa and a son born 12 Dec 1869. Orissa Coffman m. Charles A. Lyons in 1888. Would like futher details on this family for a Springer family book. John Springer (d 1843) and his wife Rebecca Stockwell (d 1860) were early settlers of Highland Co. They had many descendants who have lived in Highland Co. Am preparing a book on the Springer family and will be happy to exchange family group sheets. (1) Jacob KRETZER/KRATZER m. Margaret Florence 19 Mar 1870/Highland Co. They had a son: Ira Walter Kratzer (b 08 Nov 1872). Would like birth and death dates on these individuals and further generations. I do have earlier generations to exchange. (2) Samuel Brown m. Sarah M. Florence 07 Feb 1864/Highland Co. Children: William M. (b 1868), Bertha (b 1873), Thomas (1876-1884), and another Thomas (b 1884). Would like further spouses and deaths dates on these individuals. (3) Martha Jane Florence (aka Jennie) m. Richard O. Wood 24 Jan 1864/Highland Co. They had at least two children: Henry (b 1874) and Carey (b 1880). Searching for REX or EZERAH GIBSON. Died in auto accident in or around Hillsboro in the 1980's I think. HE lived around Hillsboro and is buried there. He was born around 1916. THANKS
