Lebanon Genealogical Society meeting announcement

Friday June 5th at 12:30 p.m.

Mark Spence from Albany will present

Children of Hudson Bay Company

An Oregon Saga

Dr. Spence is the author of several books and an educator and historian. When he found he had the “Metis” in his background he was interested in learning more about them. Metis means “mixed” in French.  Nearly all of these Metis were “children of the fur trade” either born in the region from the union of one Native and one non-Indian parent, or long-serving employees of the Hudson Bay Company who had cultural origins in the Great Lakes region.
