Laniewski, John (1871 - 12 JUL 1939)

Mr. John Laniewski, a resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), died in Chicago, July 12th, 1939 of an Asthmatic heart. The deceased was born in Poland, Dec. 1871, and immigrated to the United States in 1907 with his wife, formerly Miss Sophie Marciniak of Mordy, Poland.

Mr. Laniewski reached the age of 67 years and 7 months. After living in Gilman for 9 years he came to Thorp and resided on a farm 3 ¾ miles east for the past 21 years.

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church on Saturday morning, July 15th, Rev. Thomas Adamiak officiating, with assistance of two Sub-Deacons, Rev. Roman Papierniak and Rev. Walter Dudek. Interment followed in the nearby cemetery.

Besides his wife, he leaves six sons, Chester, Bernard, Stanislaus and Anthony, of Chicago, Felix and Leon of Thorp, two daughters, Mrs. Ed Swircynski and Jean Laniewski, two sister, Mrs. Paul Harycki of Thorp, and Mrs. Ignatius Radzikowski of Poland. He left two grandchildren, Margaret and Laverne Swircynski of Chicago.

Out of town friends and relatives attending the funeral were Florian and Frank Klasinski of Stevens Point, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Swircynski and Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Rueth of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Mrotek of Loyal; Rev. Roman Papierniak, Rev. Walter Dudek and Walter Budzyn of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Grusecki, Mrs. Kondraszuk and daughter of Gilman; Mr. and Mrs. E. Sapetta, and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Sapetta of Owen, Wisconsin.
