This former A. M. White Hardware store, with lodging rooms above was converted to a grocery store by John Drummond and sold to Adon J. Allard in 1925.  It was located on Main Street, Greenwood, Wisconsin.  [Enlarge]

 

Adon J. Allard was born April 28, 1871 in Georgetown, Madison County, New York to Eriel Day and Mary J. (Johnson) Allard. Adon married Blanche Manchester at Woodstock, Syracuse, New York on October 13, 1894.  She was the daughter of John and Barbara Helen (Snavlin) Manchester of Cazenovia, NY. 

 

"A. J." and Blanche settled in Greenwood in September, 1925 when they purchased a grocery store from John Drummond. They operated that business until October of 1940 when they sold it to Mrs. Beatrice Clayton.

Before moving to Greenwood, Mr. Allard owned and operated a jewelry store at Rib Lake for twenty-four years. He died Friday, November 29, 1940 at midnight and was buried in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Blanche died October 20, 1957 at the age of eighty-three and her body was laid to rest beside that of her husband.
