Way Back When

The Thorp Public Library is about to undergo some major renovations for the sake of the community and the people in it.  But this isn’t the first time the library underwent some changes.  This week’s Way Back When photo brings us the first public library in Thorp.  This small building, still intact in Thorp, is now the Moose Hall.  Do you know any additional information about the old library?  Do you know when the new library was built or who worked at the first library?  Let us know by contacting The Thorp Courier.

Last week, The Thorp Courier featured a baseball team photo from the 1970’s. This team was identified as the Baehr Electric softball team from July 1974.  The team members were identified as back: Jim Alberts, Mike Melcher, Tom Downey, Norm Ross, and Tom Kuester.  Front: Danny Welgos, Fred Baehr, Denny Meyer, Jim Drost, and Wally Baehr. We were also informed that Danny Welgos, Fred Baehr, and some of the others from the Thorp area play in the Medford area 50 and over league.

For more information on this photo, check next week's column.
