Hannah Free

November 1853 - October 6, 1937

wpe4.gif (6544 bytes)Hannah (nee Armstrong) was the wife of Richard Free, an early pioneer of Weston and York Township.  Richard Free came to Clark County from Canada about 1879.  He was a brother to John Free, who married Margaret McMahon, a daughter of Joseph and Jane McMahon, pioneers of York Township.  Margaret McMahon was a sister to Anna Johnson, Elizabeth Lavey’s mother.  Richard Free is buried in the Neillsville Cemetery, next to his brothers, Alexander and Arnold.  Hannah Free was the mother of Phoebe Free, Sidney Free, Lucy Lawrence, and Herb Free, all of whom are buried in York Center Cemetery.  Lucy Lawrence was the mother of Gilbert Lawrence, Helen Sisson’s first husband.
