United States World War 1 raft Registration Cards, 1917-1918, shows Charles as Age 28 Years old, Born 18 March 1889, a Natural Born Citizen Born in Colby, Wisconsin.  His parents were James Emery Foster 1858–1949 & Christina Samantha Curtis 1867–1941 who married: 14 Sep 1887.

 

Charles was a self-employed Mason in Plainview, Minnesota, with a wife and two children under 12 years. Charles was Tall, Medium Build, Hazel Eyes, Dark Brown Hair. Draft Registration Date Jun 5, 1917. Charles was left handed; he had an under-bite ( lower jaw protruded beyond the upper jaw ) as did his Mother; in his younger years he was a member of the "ODD FELLOWS"; He and his brother Ray left Wisconsin seeking work. They hopped railroad cars all the way to Detroit, Michigan, where they found work in the auto manufacturing plants.; He and Ray were always close to each other; He belonged to the Presbyterian church; he was a heavy cigarette smoker and died in the hospital of emphysema; He was a tool maker for an auto manufacture in Detroit, Michigan, most of his life; With his first wife Elsie Podein they had a son Homer and a daughter Fern. With his second wife Lockie Rogers they had a son Henry who was born after Charles first daughter Fern had a son named Donald. So, Henry the uncle was younger than his nephew Donald.

Elsie Martha Podein (April 1895 – 24 June 1921 )

Mrs. Charles H. ( Elsie Podein ) Foster died at her home in Plainview after 3 weeks illness.

*Elsie was the daughter of Carl Theodore Podein (1859–1904) & Sophia Maria Magdalena Jacobs (1860-1935). She married 7 May 1913 in Plainview, MN. Homer Lional Foster (12 Feb 1914 in Plainview, MN--abt 4 Jun 1957 in Detroit, MI) & Fern Lenora Foster were her children.

The Children of Carl & Sophia Podein were: Carl Frederick Podein 1883–1950; Freida Marie Podein 1885–1973; Bertha Podein 1886-?; Dalia Podein 1891-?; Elsie Martha Podein 1895–1921; Walter Otto Rudolph Podein 1898–1971; Meta C. Podein 1899–1984; Vera Alma Podein 1902–1911; Adeline Podein; 1905–1905 .
