Andrew J. SARGENT, Capt.; was a captain with McCutchins Guards a New London based militia unit prior to the outbreak of the war. He volunteered his services to the state after the attack on Fort Sumter. He was ordered to recruit for the First Regiment. He was mustered in as captain of Co. G, 1st N.H. Vol. on April 26, 1861.
