Marian (nee Peterson) Benedict

December 15, 1922 - November 6, 2006

Marian Edith Benedict was the wife of Morvin Benedict, a son of William E. and Susanna (nee Davis) Benedict.  William E. Benedict was the oldest son of Sanford W. Benedict, who in turn was the oldest son of Adonijah Benedict.

She was born in the Town of Levis in Clark County, Wisconsin; a daughter of Carl F. and Ann L. (nee Zunker) Peterson.  On July 25, 1942, she married Morvin just prior to his entrance into the U.S. Army during World War II.  About that same time, Marian's mother (Ann Peterson) perished from cancer.  Subsequently, both Marian and her younger sister, Arlene, lived with Morvin's parents while he was overseas.  Upon Morvin's return from military service Morvin, Marian, and Arlene continued to live at his parents' farm in York Township; their first two sons, David and Kenneth being born there.  In 1948 Morvin's mother, Susie Benedict, also died from cancer and Morvin and Marian then moved their family to Loyal.  They remained in Loyal until 2002 when they moved to Neillsville.

The oldest son, David, died of cancer in 1949 as a young boy and is also buried at York Center Cemetery.

Other immediate relatives of Marian Benedict who are also buried at York Center Cemetery include:  her sister, Arlene (nee Peterson) Collinson;  her sisters-in-law,  Lulu (nee Benedict) Kronberger and Marie Benedict; her brother-in-law Nyle Benedict; another son, Kenneth Benedict; and one grandson, David L. Benedict
