Robert Smith

January 26, 1912 - August 21, 1987

wpe7.gif (5646 bytes)(Guy) Robert Smith was a son of Guy and Belle (nee Benedict) Smith.  Guy Smith was a son of Clarendon and Emma Smith, early pioneers of York Township.  Belle Smith was the daughter of Sanford and Margaret (nee Lawrence) Benedict, both of whom were descendants of York Township pioneers.

Robert Smith's father (Guy) died in 1930 when Robert was only 18 years old.  After that, Robert supported his mother by working primarily as an auto mechanic.   He and his mother also raised bees and sold honey.  Their house and Robert's garage was located east of Loyal, Wisconsin on State Highway 98.  His mother passed away in 1962.  In 1969, Robert married Ethel Fensome who had been a missionary for many years.  She died shortly after their marriage.  Robert and his mother were members of the Free Methodist faith.
