Benjamin Franklin Munkers crossed the plains in 1845 with his family. His sons, Preston and Thomas Jefferson Munkers, and their families, are buried in this family plot.

Preston Munkers, son of Benjamin Munkers (1799-1885), was born in Jackson Co., MO. He married first Nancy Jane Crank, by whom he had five children: Mary Susan, Amanda Melvina, John Riley, William Madison, and Thomas Jefferson.

Preston and Nancy Jane appear on the 1850 Territory census with children Mary J. and Maria M.

Preston and his second wife, Barbara, appear in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census with children: Mary, Amanda, William and Thomas.

Barbara appears in the 1905 Scio census as a widow living alone.

McNamer).
